As if packing for a holiday wasn't stressful enough! You have the dilemma of what to pack for any and every eventuality and keeping in your 20kg limit. Nightmare.
My obsession with the weight of my case even overtakes my obsession with my own weight and swimwear fears - until it's checked I have the morbid fantasy that I'm going to have the humiliation of unpacking my mushy peas and tomato sauce in front of my fellow passengers; not that I've ever packed either. This fear is only topped by the fear I've packed coffee mate in my hand luggage or washing powder and it's mistaken for an illegal drug. Yep I have a vivid imagination.
Put into the mix that I'm going to set all the bleepers off because of my micro rings and going to be strip searched because of the coffee mate too and I'm pretty stressed before I get to the car door to get to the airport! 😯
You will be relived to know that after passing through the metal detectors with my buttocks clenched the alarms do not sound and no strip search will follow. I could of course put this down to the research that has shown that buttocks being clenched will ensure: smooth sailing through metal detectors, will slow the plane to a stop at landing acting as breaks and ensure a swift take off along with all manner of things 😉 or the micro rings are not metal 😊
After all that stress, i need to plan for my hair extensions so I come back with beautiful hair and not a mass of knots that would put a neglected pooch to shame.
So here are my top tips for getting the best out of your hair.
✈️ - flying always plays havoc with out bodies, dehydration and all that and hair is no different. I would suggest using a tiny bit of serum before you fly to stay hydrated and when your sat for long periods put in a low pony so you don't knot it on the back of the seat - this is for ease.
🚿 when you wash your hair, do as you would do at home. Never go to bed with it wet, comb (wide tooth comb) when wet and never wrap in a towel. Make sure you don't get conditioner on the bonds. Use a deep treatment once a week. Remember it's different water so this can have an impact on how your hair feels, don't panic just keep using the right products.
🔥keep heat treatments (hairdryer etc) low and to a minimum. Your hair is getting a lot of sun so dry natural when possible.
🏊🏽 so this is for those of you who see the pool or sea as something other than an ornamental sun trap! Hair extensions do not like chlorine or salt water so do your best to not get it wet, if you do wash it ASAP or rinse with fresh water until you can wash with shampoo. If you are going to get it wet then plait or pony tail less tangles when removing bobbles - preferably not a bun as the hair should be all in the same direction.
👒 wear a hat to protect your head and hair from the sun.
🍶 oils, lotions and creams will all make your hair need more frequent cleansing.
But MOST importantly enjoy yourself.
